The Case For Black History In The Curriculum

Posted by we_can224 on March 16, 2012 at 9:35 PM

Public Act 86-1256 effective 01-01-91 via HOUSE AMENDMENT NO.2 " amends The Illinois School Code to require elementary and secondary schools to include in their curricula a unit of instruction on "Black History" in describing the required unit of instruction; and listing events to be studied, includes contributions made by African Americans to certain development not only in the United States but also in Africa."

  1. Base upon information received from communication with representatives of Chciago Public Schools, Public Act 86-1256 has not been implemented. When children appear to be without direction, experiencing violence in a frightening magnitude and dropping out in record numbers why not.........:
  2. Provide some instruction that gives them a better sense of who they are, where they came from and introduce them to role models who contributed to the growth of America and Africa.
  3. Provide instruction that introduces students to past and present contributors and role models who ignite positive aspirations.
  4. Simply FOLLOW THE LAW!
