Public Act 86-1256 effective 01-01-91 via HOUSE AMENDMENT NO.2 " amends The Illinois School Code to require elementary and secondary schools to include in their curricula a unit of instruction on "Black History" in describing the required unit of instruction; and listing events to be studied, includes contributions made by African Americans to certain development not only in the United States but also in Africa."
- Base upon information received from communication with representatives of Chciago Public Schools, Public Act 86-1256 has not been implemented. When children appear to be without direction, experiencing violence in a frightening magnitude and dropping out in record numbers why not.........:
- Provide some instruction that gives them a better sense of who they are, where they came from and introduce them to role models who contributed to the growth of America and Africa.
- Provide instruction that introduces students to past and present contributors and role models who ignite positive aspirations.
- Simply FOLLOW THE LAW!
